Yoram Peri (born 1944) is a professor emeritus[1] at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the U.S., where he held the Abraham and Jack Kay Chair in Israel Studies, and established and directed the Joseph and Alma Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies at the University of Maryland. Peri is a sociologist and media scholar.

Yoram Peri (originally Paritzky) was born in Jerusalem to a veteran Jerusalem family.
His great grandfather arrived in Palestine from Poland in 1865 and settled in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City. The family moved out of the walls of the Old City in 1940. He studied at the Tachkemo
